Saturday, November 29, 2008 We are off to do some more shopping today. I have to pick up some additional fabric for my drapes as there was some questionable calculations going on when I got it in the first place. I will take pictures of all of my final projects once they are set up in Penarth. I will have to see what other kinds of goodies I can pick up today too.

Thanksgiving/Black Friday

Friday, November 28, 2008 Thanksgiving went great. Got my Christmas cards organized; ate lots of turkey and watched the Eagles kill the Cardinals. Very good day indeed. We didn't go crazy for Black Friday. I give it to the people who can get up for a sale at 4 am. I was happily snoozing away in my bed at that time. Spent the day relaxing. I read a good deal of my book. I also started on curtains and duvet covers for the house. We went and saw Quantam of Solace. I had heard some negative reviews but I really liked it. Not quite as sexy as Casino Royale but good nonetheless.

AIG

Wednesday, November 26, 2008I spent the earlier part of this week doing an audit at AIG. I can tell you the mood there was definitely quite subdued. I spent some time thinking about all of the people working there who are wondering what the future holds in store for them and the people who lost all their savings because they had invested their salaries in AIG stock. Not an easy time of the year for them to have those things running through their minds. I had a good time besides the working. I had a layover in PHL and got to have dinner with my parents and got some shopping done at Target. I had lunch on Monday with Tara and got to catch up with her and see all of the wonderful pictures of Grace. She is so beautiful and I am so jealous of her gorgeous locks! Monday night, Mitchell, Sophie and I had dinner at Five Napkin Burger in Hell's Kitchen. The dinner was yummy, it is on 9th between 44tha nd 45th. I love having dinner with those girls, my sides hurt at the end of the evening from all the laughing! Tuesday, I had dinner with Fred and got caught up with her life and her kids. Tuesday night, K & M Keats and I had dinner downtown. Since I was auditing AIG, I choose to stay downtown for the audit. The hotel (a Thompson Hotel) was called Gild Hall and is located on Gold Street. I would highly recommend it to anyone staying in the financial district. The Keats and I ate dinner at the cute restaurant attached to the hotel- Libertine. An Englishy fare, it had a lot of charm and we all enjoyed the food and catching up. Now, I am ready for some turkey!

Chilly

Friday, November 21, 2008 It is 65 degrees out this morning and I find that chilly. There is supposed to be a low of 60 degrees tomorrow. I find these temperatures too cold for my thinned blood. Of course, earlier this week in NYC it was much colder at night - but then again I wasn't riding a scooter to work. I am headed to NYC on Sunday. This time I am going to be prepared with much warmer clothes and a scarf and gloves. My mom said there were flurries in PA yesterday. I hope that means that it might snow on Thanksgiving. That would be fun.

ANTM Finale

Thursday, November 20, 2008 Last night was the finale of America's Next Top Model. Besides confirming the fact that Tyra drinks too much red bull, the tall, gawky McKey won the show. It wasn't much of a surprise. Somers made some yummy Morrocan food in their tagine and we topped that off with some Gato Negro. An in expensive wine that I like to buy in honor of Miss Kitty Kempe. NYC

Wednesday, November 19, 2008 I was in NYC the past couple of days. Monday, I had a meeting and I took Tuesday as a vacation day to go shopping with my Mom there. It was quite chilly but a good time. Sunday night, I finally got to see Grimm's house and had a fun birthday dinner with her, Beth, Lauren, Allison and Catherine. Monday night, Jill, my Mom and I had a wonderful dinner at Cornelia Street Cafe. Jeff was stuck at work and wasn't able to join us. Tuesday night, Jill, Jeff, Gene and I ate at Gruppo- a great pizza spot in the East Village. Tuesday, my Mom made our way up to Macys which was a warzone with so many shoppers. We then headed up to midtown to have lunch with Jill and shop around Saks. I took this picture as we trekked from the subway to Rockefeller Center. If you ever wondered what the tree looked like before the big unveiling... here it is. Covered in scaffolding.

Road Toads

Thursday, November 13, 2008 There is the good, the bad and the ugly living in Bermuda. I guess there is about living anywhere in the world. The ugly in Bermuda are the famous road toads. Because there are no squirrels or raccoons or deer, the roadkill here consists of the very large toads that don't move fast enough for the cars. They are totally disgusting and someone ran over one right in front of my house. To give you a size perspective from toe down to toe, it is about 9 to 10 inches. Gross. I couldn't help but take a picture. What am I to do with it? I don't have a shovel to move it and its huge. I am not touching it.

2008 Homecoming Weekend

Wednesday, November 12, 2008 This is picture of Reynolda Hall on Saturday of Homecoming. There was lots of activity buzzing around the quad and I was standing outside the Deacon Shop waiting for Allison and Amy to check out the Wake goods. I got a couple of cute things including a vest and Wake vineyard vines bag. I also got a Wake bandana for Miler since Ashley and Chris were nice enough to watch Maddie while I was away. Chris also graduated from Wake. What are the chances that your neighbor and friend also went to the same small NC college? It was a warm, mild weekend for November. Not really warm enough for shorts although the students we saw didn't seem to agree. It was so great to see everyone and I wish I had had more time to speak to everyone. Or even just to speak to everyone I saw. Not sure when will be the next time I get back to Winston-Salem. I don't think the 15th reunion is a very big deal. It is more likely that I will see people at a makeshift girls weekend or at someone's wedding. Yesterday was Remembrance Day. Kind of strange to have a Tuesday off. It tricks you into thinking its Saturday but then you have to go to work. At least these next three days make a nice short week!
