Totally Raining AGAIN!

Friday, January 16, 2009 Another day of rainy weather. At least it was dry on the ride into work this morning. I had to go back to TCD because the guy who inspected my bike didn't bother to put it in the system so I could re-license my bike online. It is a crying shame, that place. They spent mega bucks building an entire new complex and the service is probably worse that it was before, if that is possible. I know I should be bashing any department of the foreign government that allows me to work here, but give me a break. DMV is a big enough joke in the States but the TCD makes the DMV look like a well-oiled machine. Good news is that Jeff & Jill fly in for a visit today. Not sure I would want to fly out of NYC the day after the Hudson/US Air accident, but they are flying out of Neward so they will be fine. I just hopes the weather turns around a bit. Not fun visiting a place when the weather is terrible the entire visit. At least we have some indoor activities planned including a trip to the spa.

RAIN

Thursday, January 15, 2009 It was pouring last night on my way home from work. It was raining this morning on my way to work. I am not sure if it is raining right now but it is very grey and damp outside. So my lunch run will be pushed off until tomorrow. I hate riding the bike in the rain. It isn't as safe. It is wet and hard to see. It isn't like my helmet has windshield wipers on it.

New York Grand Prix

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 Just back from Mt. Kisco, NY. Fairly random place to go except it is home to the New York Grand Prix which is inside kart racing track. You suit up in a race outfit and helmet and then race around on karts on an indoor track. It is very fun and we did this yesterday after a morning of meetings as a team building event for work. Yes, I would have been better had I had more testosterone but it was good fun at any rate. I am going to practice for next year!

Super Sunday

Monday, January 12, 2009 The Eagles beat the Giants and Wake beat UNC, it was a great Sunday. It started off a little questionable though. Melinda and I were having a great time frostbiting when two knuckleheads tacked right into the side of our boat, capsizing us! Needless to say, I was not planning on swimming in the harbor in January but it was too chilly. It could have been a lot worse. I have also learned a lesson about running on Harbour Road. If it isn't very, very early, you are taking your life in you own hands. Those people don't give you an inch or slow down. Bermuda needs to do some serious work on improving their drivers. 2008 brought 17 road deaths. It might not sound like a lot until you consider how small the population of Bermuda is.

Windy Weather

Friday, January 09, 2009 It is blowing like crazy outside. It started last night, rattling the windows and shaking the shutters. It was quite noisy around the house. There are white caps in the harbor and the palms are whipping like crazy. I was going to go for a run but I am afraid of being blown off the north shore today (and I am feeling a little lazy.) My wind barometer is a little palm I can see from my office and the wave height in the harbor. As you can see from the picture I just took, it is really blowing out there.

New Additions

Thursday, January 08, 2009 I received many wonderful things for Christmas and I will slowly showcase some of them on the site. Two for today are a vintage tablecloth from my mom and Ikea wineracks from me. I really like the tablecloth and it is very fitting for a pink cottage. And the wineracks come in handy to store the bottles I accumulated at my Christmas party. I have them organized by wine type and region. Very handy.

Bike Registration

Wednesday, January 07, 2009 I was reminded yesterday that my bike's registration expires at the end of this month. I just noticed that my insurance is for another bike. When I bought the bike, the moron who set up the insurance used the wrong license plate and I just realized this today. And I am trying to renew online which appears to be impossible. So, now I have to wait for the insurance company to open their offices so I can get this all straightened out. How annoying. For the record, the guy who I bought the bike from looked like Snoop Dog and may have been even more stoned than the real Snoop. When Melinda went to buy her bike, she got stuck with the same guy. She didn't have much better results either.

Steph's Hen Party

Tuesday, January 06, 2009 When we were all around for Christmas, we went out for Steph's hen party. We ate at Kooma in West Chester and then hit the bars. It was a really fun night and I am looking forward to her and Paul's wedding at the end of January.

Back in Black

Monday, January 05, 2009 Back on the rock today. Also wearing black by the way. Not on purpose, but easiest thing to put together in the wee hours of the morning. And it is a good song. ACDC always pumps you up. I cannot believe how warm it is here compared to Malvern. I think it was supposed to get up to 48 today in Philly but it is at least 20 degrees warmer here. It has been wonderful to have a 10 day break from work. I feel a little invigorated and that is good. Looking forward to kicking off 2009 with a bang.
