Saturday started off really well. Got up at 8 packed my things and ran to the dinghy club for sailing. We had a really good day and won all our races except for one. Then got back and had someone drop me off at work so I could get my bike. Well, it turns out my bike keys were no longer in my bag. They were no where to be found. Luckily, I caught Melinda she came to pick me up from town because I didn't have any money on me to get a taxi or the bus. So, I come home and search. The keys seem to have definitely made it into my bag that morning and are no longer in the house. Fine. I do some laundry. The washer overflows all over the kitchen. Great. Clean that up. Finally, sit down for a minute to unwind. See something funny on the TV screen. What is it? Bird poop. Bird poop there and on a lampshade and the dining room table and the window sill and even on an apple in the kitchen. Oh god, bird is in the house. I then find some downy feathers near Maddie's favorite window sill along with a few tail feathers. Bird?! No where to be found. Searched high and low. I have no idea where it went. I know it came down the chimney but where it ended up I am afraid I might find out later when the ants find it...

Around Christmas time I saw about a million ads for a product called the snuggie. The snuggie is a one-size-fits-all fleecy backwards robe that is to be used in lieu of a blanket. Wha? Exactly. If you are that concerned about keeping your arms warm while watching TV, turn up the heat in your house. This thing comes in some hideously ugly colors too. I was amazed by this thing. It seemed the exact thing unsuspecting grandmothers would buy their single granddaughters for Christmas to keep them warm while they stayed in every watching TV and reading novels. You know, what grandmothers think their granddaughters are doing every night. Awful. Really, who would buy this thing? Well. When I was home in Malvern a while back, I was in the checkout line at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I happened to be in line behind this exact "grandmother" type described above. What was in her shopping cart?
Unbelievable. She also gave me the eye as I was pretending to "fix" my camera so I could get a shot of this.
So, when I was up in NYC having dinner with the lovely Wake Forest Ladies and drinking multiple glasses of whatever we were all drinking that night. I brought up the ridiculousness of the snuggie. Everyone concurred and found the idea of it hilarious. What would be a reason to get a snuggie? Here is when my next example comes in...
Above is a picture of a group of young people dressed in snuggies. I took this picture the other week when I was out in Breckenridge. Breckenridge is rather cold so wearing a snuggie on a bar crawl is probably one of the only good uses of a snuggie and funny as hell too. I got my dad to pose next to this group of unsuspecting revelers. (Now you will understand about the color choices of the snuggie.) I don't doubt that this company cleaned up at the holiday season but the idea behind this product is ridiculous. At the Wake dinner it was compared with the usefulness of an item that Sophie posted about on her blog once.
The Boyfriend Pillow. Ha.

I've temporarily misplaced my camera or I would post some pictures of a product that is very close to my heart and dedicated to Sophie Askew. But that will wait for another day. I have been crazy busy at work and taking breaks looking out the window at the weird weather we are having. Wind. Sun. Then Rain. I have to stay here until dinner with the underwriters at 6:30 up at Ascots. At least that won't be so bad. I like the underwriters and I like Ascots. I would recommend it for lunch or dinner. It has really great service.

I need to spend some more time digging through all my photos and find some even better ones of the fine ladies of Malvern. Although, I love looking through old photos. It always makes me laugh remembering the memories of the occasions capture on film.

Happy birthday to three lovely ladies who graduated from Great Valley just a short while ago with me! Kelly, Catherine and Tracey- another yeat down. I didn't have enough time to find a good picture of them for the site. Maybe over the weekend.... And happy birthday to Kristen- we are celebrating her day in style tomorrow night at the Bermuda Lacrosse Team's 80's party. Can't wait to dress up for that!

It has been one of those kinds of work weeks. There is restructuring going on for our group in addition with layoffs at my company, which really means a lot more work for me. I love living in Bermuda but the work is on par with working at a law firm in NYC again. Except that you get paid more and get bigger bonuses at law firms in NYC.

So weird that Natasha Richardson died of a head injury from skiing on a bunny slope. I saw last night on BBC that she had passed away. I think it is the fact I had just come home from skiing in Breckenridge and the fact that on Sunday, in my anti-altitude headache, I watched the Lindsay Lohan Parent Trap movie with her starring in it. It has nothing to do with her being an actress. I guess the fact that she is famous and this kind of weird accident actually gets reported. You really wonder how much this stuff happens to real people in real life that you never hear about. You realize life isn't something you can take advantage of.

Vivienne helped motivate me for a run after work today. I felt awful with my stay in NYC and then my vacation in Breckenridge, the running has trailed off a bit. And I was doing so well. Kind of depressing. Hopefully, I will be able to get back into the swing of things and be running as well as I was a couple of weeks ago. If I want to do the May 24th 1/2 marathon, I need to kick it into high gear with NO MORE EXCUSES!
