Rain, Glorious Rain

It rained yesterday.  A lot in the afternoon.  It was glorious.  So much that I had to tip over some pots to drain the excess off the top.  I hate to go from drought to drowning the plants. 

On a good note, HWP finally picked up my bike yesterday.  Now, we will see how long it takes for them to get moving on it. 

It is Cloudy Outside

Big deal, right?  Well, it is a big deal.  We haven't had a cloudy day in 2 months.  My neighbors got water delivered again.  I think I killed some newly planted flowers out front because I forgot to water on Tuesday night.  My pepper plants definitely died.  It is dry here.  Very dry.  Great if you here on vacation and get cloudless, sunny skies every day.  Bad if you live here and your tank is emptying by the day.  We might even get some sprinkles.

On another note, HWP did not pick up my dead bike yesterday.  Despite calling first thing and going there at 9:15 with the keys, HWP did not bother to pick up my bike.  It better get picked up today or Jen is going to explode on someone.  Customer service is terrible there.  I would never recommend them to anyone.  They are terrible.

P.O.S. Bike

Yesterday, we won our bracket for spring volleyball.  I actually played pretty decently.  Now summer league starts in a couple of weeks and I want Full of 'Hit to get shirts.  I think that would be fun.

On the way home, the bike totally died.  I had to leave the bike on South Road last night.  God only knows how long it will take to get it picked up and fixed.  I have called the service place twice this morning with no luck.  I either get put on hold for 10 minutes or put into someone's voicemail.  Service in Bermuda absolutely sucks.  Might be strong language but it fits.  SUCKS.

Baby Shower Gifts

More fun to buy than wedding shower gifts.  But actually probably easier to buy when you have a kid yourself.  Finally got myself in gear and got something for Beth K.  She had two lovely showers in the States, one in ATL and one in DC.  Neither which I was able to attend.  However, instead of buying something and having it sent to the ATL shower, just to be driven up to NYC- I bought something and am having it sent to her pad in NYC.  One of the items said one to three months for shipping from Amazon.com.  Kind of surprised about that one.  But considering it isn't something an infant uses, it will be okay if its a little later in the summer. 

Went to a shower last week.  People were giving cash in lieu of gifts.  Money at weddings makes sense.  It is a little trickier for a baby shower.  What is the appropriate amount for that??

Great Visit

I had a lot of fun this past weekend with Karen, Michael, Gene and David and even a short visit with Beth.  We were very busy with lots of fun in the sun- maybe too much fun as I didn't do as well in the half marathon yesterday as I had hoped.  Oh well.  I am going to try to get some pictures from Gene to post here.  Another sunny day here and the last night of spring volleyball.  Summer league starts soon.

We are on the beach eating chips and drinking fruity drinks. Super sunny and nice breeze.

VLS Weekend

Karen and Gene are in town this weekend to reek some law school havoc on the island of Bermuda.  Beth is in for a short visit too with David.  Weather looks nice, so I am excited that we will have a nice weekend of beaching and boating. 

Monday is the big race.  Half marathon on one of the hilliest courses imaginable.  With the heat and humidity included, the race is the toughest I have ever run.  And to boot, this year is the 100th anniversary of the race so tons of people of signed up to run.  Two years ago, I don't even think there were 400 people running it.  Apparently 1,350 are signed up for Monday morning.  I just hope they have enough water. 

Camera, looking like a total loss

Well, I tried to follow the suggestions of the google searches regarding my lens error.  It didn't seem to make a difference.  The lens is stuck out and I cannot get it to retract back in.  And it is very tight.  I cannot twist or turn it at all.  Very annoying.

Last night, I went to see the production of Missing Celia Rose at the Bermuda Drama Society.  The play was rather good and some of the actors were spectacular.  I now know what happens to those kids in high school who love the drama club, they become actors in local drama societies.  Well, I am glad there is an outlet for them. 

Dead Asleep

Well, the camera is still having issues.  I looked up some hints on how to fix it, so I hope it works.  Kind of annoying not to have a camera.  The lens is stuck out and when I turn on the camera it says "lens error, restart camera."  I tried restarting it a number of times with no success.  I think a little twisting and thumping is in store to fix it.

Cats are funny sleepers.  It seems they are always partly awake.  If you pet them, an ear twitches or a tail curls up.  It is always like they are partially conscious with eyes closed.  Well, as I have learned, not always.  Maddie is a bit of a scaredy cat.  She sleeps with one eye open, ready to run from an imaginary dog in the house.  So imagine my shock when I saw her asleep on the bed in the middle of the night and she didn't move a muscle.  I reached over and pet her and she was dead still.  I mean dead.  I actually had a panic run through my body that she was dead because she didn't move a bit.  But then after a quick poke and prod- she woke up annoyed and left to sleep somewhere more peaceful.  Scared the bejesus out of me though. 

Technical Difficulties

All in all, the presentations went very well yesterday.  I still don't like public speaking, but shows what sacrificing the weekend will do to help prepare oneself. 

My camera is having some issues.  Part of the problem is the battery needs to be charged.  But I turned on the camera and the lens came out- now it won't go back in.  And makes a terrible sound.  Will investigate more after work when I get the battery charged up.
