My Latest
Dog Person

Thursday, September 25, 2008091508 006 (Small).jpg

Just to show that I am not the crazy cat lady after the last couple of posts, I am including a picture of my parents' younger lab, Grace.  She is quite a ham.  She is the funniest dog I have ever met.  She insists on sleeping on humans' beds.  If there is a door open she will sneak in there and snooze away.  If you are sitting on the couch watching TV, she insists on cuddling right up to you, well, pretty much on top of you.  She is very pretty and has a lot of energy.  I don't know if I know many worse dogs on the lease.  However, she is only two and in lab years that is barely a preteen.  I am looking forward to seeing her this evening.  I moved my flight up to today in order to avoid any kind of bad weather tomorrow.  Becky is flying in from SF, but at least her flight path isn't directly aimed through the bad weather.  That is one down thing about flying out of BDA.  To many cities there is only one flight a day.  Miss it and you have to wait to see if there is room on the next day's flight to accommodate you.  I don't always like those odds.  SIC here I come!

miles boots 2 (Small).jpg

This is Miles.  He is my sister's cat.  He loves getting into mischief.  My sister got me a new pair of wellies for Bermuda's rainy season.  A great pair of Hunter boots in Iris.  www.hunterboots.com  Well, Miles did not approve of its box.  Either that or he believed a mouse was living inside it, because he attacked the box and made it his own.  In this picture he is proudly showing that he has beaten the box and now will use it for his resulting nap.

In other news, this weekend is the annual Girlz Reunion Weekend at SIC.  I am really looking forward to seeing my friends from high school and relaxing.  Lots of girl time, food and alcohol.  It is a pretty good combo.  Although the weather isn't looking that great.  There is some kind of formation off the east coast.  This type of weather makes it very difficult for me to travel and I don't like it!

Travel Protest

Tuesday, September 23, 2008

092208 (Small).jpgSomeone is sick and tired of me packing up this thing and heading off on a plane.  So, in personal protest of my travel schedule, Maddie has decided to have a sit-in.

I was unpacking my bags last night and trying to get everything back in its place.  I noticed that Maddie had disappeared.  Then I found her hiding out in my suitcase.  I tossed a mouse toy in there and it created hours, I mean, minutes of amusement.  No more travel!!

Short Weekend in Paoli

Monday, September 22, 2008

After the seminar in Philly on Thursday and Friday, I headed to Paoli for a short weekend of relaxation and some shopping.  I got a chance to see Roy and Tracey and the boys.  We watched Wake beat Florida State 12 to 3.  And then the Eagles beat the Steelers on Sunday.  My teams did pretty well in football this weekend.  It is full on fall in PA.  It got down to 50 at night and warmed up during the day.  I miss the huge green trees and flat large lawns.  It is a peaceful place.  I spotted my parents' resident groundhog.  Those things move fast when they want to- like when an overzealous black lab is bounding over to make friends.  The one ugly spot in Paoli is the train station, pictured below.  I don't understand how Paoli manages to have the ugliest train station on the mainline.

Philly
Friday, September 19th, 2008

The past couple of days I have been in the city of brotherly love for a cyber risk insurance seminar.  I won't say it is the most thrilling seminar in the world but it is an upcoming area in insurance and something we are seeing more and more of.  It is always good to be prepared for future events.  Anyhoo, I got to spend two fun nights with Beth hanging in Philadelphia.  First night we hit the Mexican Post- that is a usual spot for me.  Cool hangout with mexican food.  The second night, we went to Susanna Foos and then grabbed drinks with a group of ADAs.  They are a fun group and they have great stories about the criminal justice system in Philadelphia.  Just don't get arrested there.  Prosecuters are tough and the judges are wacky.
