I am not making any promises to myself, but a group of us are signing up for the NY Marathon. I have never run a marathon. I know, it is a little surprising considering the number of races I have run and how much I like to run. But, I never felt the need to run one. However, a group of my friends here are signing up to go. My friend D'Arcey is very encouraging and is working on a training schedule and workouts. As a resident of Bermuda, I can get a spot in the marathon pretty easily. Kind of ironic, considering if I still lived in NYC, it would be next to impossible to get an entry unless I was running with a charity. It is a tall order to fill, so we will see if it happens. I am not making any promises. November 1st is a ways off. And running in Bermuda in the summer is very difficult. Hot and humid, not the best conditions for a long run. Therefore, the long runs have to be done in the early morning. EARLY. Like 4 or 5am. And I am not a morning person. I decided to try to set an earlier goal. I want to run the marathon derby on May 24th again. I ran it 2 years ago and this year is the 100 running of it so it is kind of historical. It is only a 1/2 marathon but it is incredibly hilly which makes it quite challenging. It may be just as daunting as the NYC marathon actually. Anyway, Vivienne and I continue our lunch runs a couple of time a week and I am running a 5K with Jill when I am up in NY at the end of February. That should be a good start.
