This is the bike I am leaning towards. A bit pricey here but a very nice ride. Honda Scoopy SH 125cc.
It has been raining here since 10am. Probably doesn't sound that unusual if you live in the States, but it is pretty unusual here. Clouds will come and go with passing showers but we usually don't have an entire day of grey skies and constant rain. I don't even want to think about riding the bike this evening...
I am really enjoying watching the Olympics. The opening ceremonies were great last weekend. Melinda even broke out the maple leaf spatula for pancake making that Sunday. I am looking forward to the US/Canada hockey game this Sunday. Below is Sebs, showing his Canadian spirit.
Charlotte York is the name of one of the characters on Sex and the City. She is played by Kristin Davis. You can think what you want about Sex and the City, but I think it was a fantastic series and movie. Yes, my feelings are probably accentuated by the fact that I lived in NYC while the show ran on HBO. But it is also a great show about female friendship and what we deal with in the dating scene.
Anyway, after some contemplation and time, I have decided to re-join the world of the singletons. I found myself in a relationship and it just isn't quite what I wanted. Even if someone seems to be right on paper, sometimes there are things that aren't quite right for you. I certainly don't expect perfection. I am not perfect. But there are somethings that are really important to me. I am not 25 anymore. I have had enough life experience at this point to know: (1) guys don't change and (2) if this isn't right it means there is someone better out there for me. Keep in mind, this wasn't an easy decision. It is easy to type this but still difficult to process.
Anyhoo, a good friend pointed out last night that part of the hurt is finding yourself single again. And it is true. What a pain. (And for my married friends, yes, I realize the grass is always greener.) She then reminded me of the famous Charlotte York quote-
"I've been dating since I was fifteen.
I'm exhausted.
Where is he?"
I feel a little like that right about now.
Mardi Gras was celebrated with a Cajun cooking class last night at International Imports. Shrimp creole, cheese grits, fried okra and jambalaya were a few of the things on the menu. I came home utterly stuffed with New Orleans.
I keep reading about the crazy snow on the east coast. I am glad it doesn't snow here, not sure how the ride to work on the bike would be. The crazy winds were enough. The airport here has been closed more than it has been open the past 2 weeks. My flight out of JFK was cancelled not because of the snow falling in NYC but because of the winds in Bermuda.
The winter here has been terrible wind wise. So windy, in fact, that sailing was cancelled most weekends because the gale force winds would easily knock down the small 420s that we sail in. Riding the bike in the wind isn't fun, but then again my bike has been in the shop more than it has been out so I've been taking the bus anyway.
